Storyteller at heart
Storytelling is a family trait inherited from a spirited cast of funeral directors, preachers, textile factory workers, rum runners, and nurses. My songs capture a moment in time of ordinary people living not so ordinary lives. My lyrics have been described as simple yet complicated with a twist and full of ‘sassitude’. My vocals have been described as a soulful blend of Southern gospel, almost country and ‘swarmy jazzy blues’. If you ask me I just sing what I feel.
What began in 2015 as a mid-life hobby has become a budding second career. It was launched with the inclusion of Sad Stories on a 2017 promotional CD for Macon, Georgia which led to the 2018 release of the album The Year of Still Here by The Pammie Kakes Ensemble. I have released several singles and in collaborations with songwriters and musicians in the US, Guatemala, the UK, Canada, and Germany.
Noteworthy performances include the 1st Annual Opelika Songwriter's Festival (AL), Macon Georgia's Bragg Jam, Joey Stuckey’s Alive Day Concerts (GA) , and the New Orleans Folk Alliance International Annual Conference. Several of my songs are in the catalogues of music supervisors for television and film.
